UTBMS Codes List: Litigation Task, Activity & Expense Codes

UTBMS (Uniform Task-Based Management System) codes tell the client what phase and task the work was for, what kind of activity it was, and what an expense was. A LEDES fee line usually needs a task code and an activity code; an expense line needs an expense code.

Putting codes on your time entries

In Toggl or Clockify, add the codes as tags or start the description with them (L120 A104 Review complaint). In Harvest, name tasks after the code (L120 Analysis/Strategy). LedesReady picks them up and strips them from the narrative.
